Beyond the Croqui: From Painted Croquis to Digital Art traces Lateefat Tobun's evolution as an illustrator, from hand-painted figure studies rendered in acrylic paint on paper, through to work created entirely through digital tools.
The exhibition presents this progression side by side: intricately hand-drawn illustrations, built up through traditional mark-making and colour, shown alongside pieces that carry the same eye for line and form into digital space. Visitors can trace a single idea as it moves from pencil and brush to screen — seeing how the fundamentals of illustration hold steady even as the medium changes entirely.
Rooted in classical illustration technique but pushing into contemporary digital practice, the exhibition reflects Lateefat's multidisciplinary approach to art-making. Beyond the Croqui asks what is preserved, and what is transformed, when an artist's hand moves from paper to pixel — and celebrates illustration as the throughline connecting both.
